Inspector - Serious Violence Duty

Leads the response and strategic planning of reducing Serious Violence in the county of Cheshire.

Job purpose

Leads the response and strategic planning of reducing Serious Violence in the county of Cheshire, ensuring they develop and implement strategies that underpin the strategic plan that ensure the management and assessment of threat, risk and harm.

Main duties & responsibilities

In addition to core responsibilities the role will include the following specific responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the strategy and therefore the Joint Strategic Need Assessment data collection focuses on the key drivers of serious violence including Violence Against Women and Girls (domestic abuse), Public Space Violence (licensing) and county lines / organised crime.
  • Review Statutory Guidance and identify opportunities.
  • Gather in force data / profiles to support understanding the problem of serious violence.
  • Gather available external data to help support the strategic need of the Constabulary.
  • Identify data gaps and conduct thorough analysis to support the overall strategy.
  • Explore activities with Violence Reduction Units nationally to identify good practice and tactics.
  • Engage with external partners and the College of Policing to identify evidence bases around tactics to support what we know.
  • Identify and map relevant partners for the next 12 months and develop partnership structure for next 24 months for sign off by Local Criminal Justice Boards.
