Research and Volunteer Support Officer

To provide a research and analysis function to support the delivery of the Police and Crime Plan and support to the Commissioners volunteers.

Job purpose

To provide a research and analysis function to support the delivery of the Police and Crime Plan and support to the Commissioners volunteers.

Main responsibilities

  • Provide a proactive research and analysis function utilising an environmental scanning process to identify issues and produce briefings on potential impacts.
  • Support the Principal Scrutiny & Planning Officer in reviewing new legislation and documents and produce briefings on key issues and impacts.
  • Assist in the identification of good practice and its dissemination into the work of the OPCC
  • Support the development of policies and procedures through research and analysis.
  • Lead on the recruitment, retention and development of all OPCC volunteers.
  • Coordinate and administer all volunteer activity and produce briefings and reports for the Commissioner on activity which supports the Commissioner’s statutory duties and scrutiny activities. Appraise the work of volunteers to ensure they remain effective.
  • Represent the Commissioner and the OPCC volunteers within the Citizens in Policing agenda and ensure there is a consistent approach to voluntary roles within both the Constabulary and the OPCC.
  • Undertake projects to support the delivery of the Police and Crime Plan as required by the Chief Executive.
  • To maintain an awareness of activities across the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, anticipating demand, highlighting risks and providing support and assistance as necessary to ensure the office delivers the Commissioner’s agenda.
