Victim Information Pack

The Commissioner has supported the development of the The Victim Information Pack (VIP) which is provided to all victims of crime. The pack explains what will happen when an individual reports a crime and provides information on the various services that are available to help support victims.

The VIP is a tool for officers to help ensure a victim understands their rights and entitlements under the Code of Practice for Victims of Crime and The Victims’ Code: under 18s. Additionally, should a victim want to record their victim personal statement at the time, the VPS form is included.

Information about attending court and potential special measures is provided, as well as explanations of alternatives to going through the criminal justice process to court in the form of ‘Out of Court’ disposals.

Specialist information for victims of domestic abuse, honour-based violence, child sexual exploitation, rape and sexual abuse and hate crimes is also provided, to guide towards specialist partner agencies or commissioned support services.
